Drill Weekend=All the kids to myself

JR is at his reserve drill weekend today, so I have my friend’s little girl and my two.  The idea my friend and I had was that her little girl would spend the night Friday and Saturday since drill weekend starts so early in the morning.  I was hoping that her sleeping over would mean that I didn’t have to wake up so early, but I guess not.  While JR was getting dressed (6am), the girls woke up, so the baby woke up, so I woke up.  So much for sleeping in a little!

After breakfast I got everyone dressed for the park.  I thought it was a chilly morning so I put the girls in warm clothes.  During the walk to the park, I realized that it was actually a little warm.  Shoulda watched the weather channel!

At the ark, the girls stripped off the layers of clothing I put them in, played and fed the ducks.  Chase went with us, but he’s not adjusting to the leash very well.  He maintains the notion that if he is going to get walked on a leash, then HE’S holding the leash himself.  I guess he’s independent that way!  Seeing as how he’s a pit bull, he was born with a bad rap, so I guess I’ll have to teach him to walk on a leash one way or another.

I put the girls down for a nap, but more importantly, so I could get a few minutes of peace and quiet!  I have so much to do around here, but I don’t know where to start.  Now that the basement is done, I wanted to put JR’s off season clothes down there so I could reclaim some of the closet back.  I also have a basket full of laundry that needs to get put away and a bathroom that is screaming for a good scrub down!

I was supposed to do all that this past week, but seeing as how it is the change of season, I thought I’d take advantage of some summer sales going on a buy the girls some clothes for next summer!  I get so frustrated when I see an article of clothing I just bought go on sale at 75% off!  I’m getting wise to their game and now I always buy for the season that just passed.

I’m also working on school and trying to get that done.  They just added two more classes to my degree program.  If I’m lucky, I’ll be done with it all by around this time next year.  That is definately one thing I am ready to move on from.  Once I finish this degree, I think I’m going to wait until we go back to San Diego before I start anything else…school-wise.

Sarai is three months today!  I started putting her down for her naps in the crib rather than keeping her down stairs with me.  I should have been doing this since the day she came home, but I liked having her around me where I could always see her.  She’s not adjusting very well and is crying now as I type.  This tough love game is no fun and I find myself wanting to go up there and solve this dilemma but rocking her to sleep and laying beside her.  Although that’s a fine choice, in the long run, it is debilitating as I never get any farther than cleaning up the messes just made and getting no time to finish my class work.

She’s been sleeping with me in the bed since she came home and I know from my experience with Alex, that if I don’t get her used to sleeping in the crib, she’ll be sleeping with me until she’s 3!  Alex just stopped sleeping with me about a year ago, but still wants in every once in a while.

I’ll be putting the finishing touches on a few articles today.  I meant to get the back-to-school article out a few weeks ago, but I dropped the ball on that!  I’ll get it out today since it can be used year round and handy for next year!  I got some other things coming out including some how-tos, so stick around!
