Hello everyone!  As you may already know, I’m Katrina.  I have been planning this big step in my life for the past 5 years and will be beginning my journey on Monday.  A little about me first…

Dear Readers,

I know that I am certainly not a pro wife when it comes to care packages since my hubby hasn’t even left for his first deployment yet, but I’ve been cruising some sites and have found some really great ideas on things to send our guys.

While deployed or stationed overseas, military members are not always permitted to come home during emergency cases.  This can be especially true if the emergency is simply told to the member from their spouse or other loved one.  An important task in getting information to a service member is to do it the right way.

Explaining why mommy or daddy is leaving can be difficult.  Your child may be too young to understand the concept of a deployment and may believe that mommy, daddy, or both are angry at each other or at them.  During these times, you may be having a hard time finding the right words to ease your child’s heart and make the separation a little easier on the children…and yourself.

JR just came home during his lunch hour and informed me that during his orders briefing, he was told 300 days ‘boots on ground’.  For those of you who don’t know what that means, it means that the 8 month deployment just became a 10 month deployment.  Boots on ground means that these 10 months start when he touches down in Kuwait and does not include the 2-3 weeks he will be spending in Norfolk for his briefing and debriefing.

JR is at his reserve drill weekend today, so I have my friend’s little girl and my two.  The idea my friend and I had was that her little girl would spend the night Friday and Saturday since drill weekend starts so early in the morning.  I was hoping that her sleeping over would mean that I didn’t have to wake up so early, but I guess not.  While JR was getting dressed (6am), the girls woke up, so the baby woke up, so I woke up.  So much for sleeping in a little!

AM I LATE?

Mommyhood keeps me away from the television, but I’m up tonight and watching the replay of the VMAs.  Did this really happen!?  I can’t believe it.  I’m googling this all over and found that everyone is so PO’d at Kanye.  What a jerky move!  I’m sure that he wasn’t trying to insult Taylor and she was so graceful about everything, but eeeehhhhh!

Hey everyone!  I’m in conflict….

I have been dealing with my finance counselor and academic counselor at the University of Phoenix.  They told me last week that I would be delayed one week because I owe $275.19.  It would have been nice to know ahead of time so that it didn’t mess with my schedule, but I guess that’s asking too much.
